In Florida recently there was a fatal beating of a man because of a cigarette. There is no detail at this time as to why the fight started, except that it involved a cigarette and that one man really wanted it and the other wasn’t giving any up.
This is a very extreme case of someone really wanting a smoke. It is rather sad that it ended the way that it did.
Well it seems to be so in a lot of different areas in the world. The branding names are changing to reflect something that women will be more likely to buy. Words such as Vogue, Mild, Topaz etc. The goal they say of this is to convince women that smoking cigarettes like these are less harmful than calling it something else.
While the population of women that smoke is increasing, I’m not sure if you call it something else that they will tend to buy it. However I have to agree that branding it towards women is a smart move on the tobacco companies part.
Just think of it when you think of alcohol. Back in the 80’s Miller Lite came out and no man would be caught drinking Miller Lite. But it literally opened to a whole new market for women. It was an overnight success for them, making it ok for women to drink beer.
Now on the other hand I feel that a lot of companies have already done this. Think of your Mistys and Virginia Slims. No offense but I as a man have ever walked in and said, “You know what I think I will take the Misty’s instead of Parliaments”. I just don’t see that happening.
Just as it is cliche to not drink Zima if you are a guy or wine cooler for that matter it is not cool to smoke Misty’s if you are a guy as well. But on the side of the women they can pretty much do whatever they please in terms of alcohol beverage choice and cigarette brand and all would not think twice.
All this talk of alcohol and cigarettes has gotten me to thinking….I think I am going to make myself a cosmopolitan and go on the back porch and light a candle and turn on my favorite Sade tunes…..Just kidding. I will probably go and grab a parliament, a cold Bud and put on some Pantera.

We all know that in America there is new form of racism. The racism against smokers. People tend to look at us funny and not want anything to do with us when we are in a public location. Don’t believe me, just go to LA and light up a smoke and see what happens. People give you looks like you are the devil himself. I’ve seen it first hand. I actually had to go to the bathroom to see if I had something written on my face or something.
Because of this a lot of the big brands are looking abroad at their new markets to find the new groups that are still smoking and not apart of our nanny state.
Indonesia is the 5th biggest market for cigarettes, behind China, U.S., Russia and Japan. But the thing is that Indonesians aren’t really that fond of the regular cigarette they would rather have a clove cigarette. They tend to smoke blends of tobacco and cloves called a kreteks.
Marlboro now has their hand in this pie with the take over of the controlling interest in Sampoerna with a big check of $5.2 billion. This actually make a new record for the Indonesian culture in that this is the biggest price a foreign company has ever paid for a Indonesian company.
Once this was completed and everything was put in place, they rolled out a new cigarette called the Marlboro Mix 9. Which is actually a lot stronger than any other cigarette they currently sell in America.
There are so many cigarette manufacturers around the world but we have come up with a list of about 10 that really stand out among the rest. A lot of these are still located right here in America in Good Ole Kentucky while others tend to have their headquarters up in New York.
Here is the list of what we believe is the most influential brands in the United States and the world.
Philip Morris Companies: One the biggest around I am pretty sure that you have heard of them before. They have some of the most successful cigarette brands on the planet. Some of their more recognized cigarettes brands are the following.
1. Benson & Hedges
2. Marlboro
3. Parliament
4. Virginia Slims
5. Basics
Their main customer support location is up in New York at 120 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10017
The second most notable company in our list is going to have to be RJ Reynolds. They tend to carry the other top cigarette brands in the world. Having been around for a long time they have been able to purchase some of the smaller brands that really came out of the gate hard. Some of their brands include the following.
1. Camel
2. Salem
3. Winston
4. Doral
5. Monarch
They on the other hand have kept to their home state of Winston Salem this entire time. They are located at P.O. Box 7, Winston-Salem, NC 27102.
The third company on this list has to be the Lorillard Company. It is ironic that you don’t hear much from these guys. I guess all the flax comes down on the other two that I just mentioned. Some of their brands that you may recognize include the following.

The next on this list is going to have to be the company that I tend to send the most money to for my brand of cigarettes. That would be Brown& Williamson Tobacco. They have a lot of brands that you might skip over if you are a Camel guy or gal, but they have my cigarette of choice so they are included in this list. There are many more cigarette manufacturers on this list but the other brands you probably never heard of or smoked. I know from my personal experience that I have never touched the rest. These are the brands that tend to have all the dust on them on the shelves at the convenience store. Or the brands that you may have glanced at when you got your receipt from the cashier after you paid an arm and leg for your favorite pack.
There are other facts that you don’t hear about cigarettes. We hear all the bad things about cigarettes everyday well here is some facts that you probably never heard of before in your life.
1. Cigarettes the most traded item on the PLANET! It is one of the top industries in the world at around 400 billion a year! That is a lot of cigarettes.
2. Because Americans have made it such a Nanny state, cigarette companies have chosen to sell abroad and now sell more cigarettes to other countries than they do to Americans.
3. It is not illegal for minors to smoke cigarettes it is just illegal for minors to buy cigarettes. So as long as you are a parent and around your child they can smoke, not a good idea in my eyes, but it is still not illegal.
4. The U.S. state where there is them most smokers is Kentucky. Followed by Indiana, Tennessee. I would have thought Pennsylvania would have been included in that number. But that is just my own experience from being there.
5. Around 25% of the cigarettes sold around the world are on the black market, probably because the government is taxing the crap out of the regular person that is wanting to get their cigarettes at the store.
6. This one is quite interesting. It has been proven that most people start smoking before they are of legal age to smoke. The reason they do this is because they believe that it makes them seem more adult like.
So a lot of people think that celebrities don’t smoke and that they only do heavier drugs. Well I have gathered some pictures of a couple of your favorite celebrities smoking cigarettes in these photos. Maybe you will find some funny while others you will find very surprising. Like the one I found of Miley Cyprus smoking….just kidding.
No big surprise here, she has been seen smoking a lot. Hope it doesn’t ruin her voice or they may have to auto correct it….just kidding.

In America we are coming off one of our greatest holiday beach weekends – 4th of July. Nothing is more fun then going to the beach with some friends and cooking out and having some beers, it is American fun at its finest. However there has been an increase in the amount of cigarettes thrown on the shores of our wonderful beaches.
Smokers are banned from restaurants and bars to light up when they choose. However the beaches are still free for smokers. But there is a big movement in making it illegal to smoke on the beaches as well. I for one, being a smoker have to agree with these people. I know I know, you are probably shaken to why.
Well the answer lies in the fact that when you go to the beach there is cigarette butts everywhere! It is terrible. I for one make sure that we make empty beer cans or something the designated ashtray. No need to add to the crap on the beach and contribute to the mess there….don’t worry BP has got you covered there.
If you intend to travel to the beach this summer, do your part by either bringing a plastic bag or something to put your cigarette butts in. Please.
We all know how long it takes cigarettes to decompose and having that wash away with the tide is just too much for our earth to be burdened with anymore.
Please remember this post when you intend on having fun on the beach, make it be a better place than when you went there.
As the price for cigarettes keeps climbing up and up, there is one state that hasn’t seem to go along for the ride. That state is Missouri. They have a tax of only $.17 . I can hear the New Yorkers now, “$.17 what the heck”? I know that is actually really really low.
People from other states that stop off in Missouri that know about the prices there, tend to load up when they get to the state.
So remember that the next time you pass through Missouri or are there on a business trip for something. They are kind to smokers and give you a break on the price of cigarettes
As we all know too well, New York has decided to raise the taxes on cigarettes again. This time some New Yorkers are saying that it is just too much. They have decided to go to Massachusetts to get their cigarettes now. The prices there are usually $2 cheaper than the cigarettes in New York.
Sounds good to me if you don’t factor in the gas costs, but when they are going across the border they are purchasing cigarettes in bulk. The local convenience stores aren’t really the ones benefiting from the travelers, it is more the big box stores that are seeing the increase in new visitors.
Maybe it is time for a vacation to the state of Massachusetts if you are close enough to make the trip worth it, or you could just buy your cigarettes here on this site and get them for a discount with out the taxes that go with it. Hmmm I would say stay home and get them here.
I know that most people started smoking before they were of age to buy them, that is not a new fact. But if you haven’t seen this there is a 2 year old kid that is smoking. I actually find it disturbing. What are your thoughts.
